Funeral Service for the Rev. Frederick Mold, Jr.

The synod has received word that the Rev. Frederick Mold, Jr., Stated Clerk, Emeritus of the Synod of the Mid-Atlantics and Professor of Reformed Church Polity, Emeritus of the New Brunswick Theological Seminary, has died. On Wednesday, June 14 Fred suffered a stroke. He was taken to Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton, NJ, and he died Friday evening, June 16, having spent time with his beloved wife, Doris, son and daughter, David and Lynne, and their spouses Rebecca and Keith. Fred was predeceased by his and Doris’ daughter, Caryn.

Visitation will be at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, NJ, Wednesday, June 21, 3 pm – 7 pm. A funeral service will be held at The Reformed Church of Freehold, Thursday, June 22, 10 am. Interment to follow in Graceland Memorial Park, 1900 Galloping Hills Road, Kenilworth, NJ. Clergy are invited to robe and gather in the Reformed Church Fellowship Hall (lower level) by 9:45 am. 

Fred was born June 17, 1926 in Jersey City. He earned his MDiv from NBTS in 1955, and was ordained that year by the Classis of New Brunswick. He pastored in Middletown, 1955-58; Freehold, 1958-1979; and Tinton Falls, 1986-1991. Rev. Mold served as vice president of New Brunswick Theological Seminary 1986-1991, where he was also an adjunct professor. He served the Classis of New Brunswick as the stated clerk from 1957-1992, and as treasurer starting in 1957 into the early 2000’s. He also served as the stated clerk of the Synod of Mid-Atlantics from 1990-2010.
